BENEATH HER 2025
BENEATH HER 2025
“Beneath Her”, exploring whether female suffering is inherent or pushed upon us as women. Featuring a multimedia sculpture projection, charcoal drawings, a watercolor self portrait and digital illustrations.
Women are taught to carry pain—quietly, instinctively, as if it were built into our very being.
"Beneath Her" explores the feelings of feminine struggle in today’s society, questioning whetherthat suffering is inherent or imposed on us as women. Grief, rage, vulnerability, shame,exhaustion- feeling as a woman, in and of itself, is something that can feel so extreme yetinescapable. Is this something we are born with, or something we are conditioned to endure?Daphne delves into the physical, emotional, and societal burdens placed on women, fromthe silent expectations of resilience to the pressure of fitting into roles we didnot choose. That pressure imposed onto us is woven into our sexuality along with ourrelationships with ourselves and others.
