An 1950’s archived educational film explains the science of a flower’s growth, from root to bloom to wilting.
Adding a parallel to this narrative, Flowerhood collages archival TV clips from the 1960’s and adds a story about the expectations of womanhood.

A cycle of womanhood, forever misunderstood.

A cycle of life, so complex and fragile.

FLOWERHOOD

It is shocking to see the stereotypical roles of women acted out in old archival films, but at the same time it urges the question: To what extent are these injust standards still (unspokenly) manifested today?

We are birthed then expected to birth. We love and are expected to be loved. The raw vulnerability, the fragility of womanhood can be summarized in petals, pollin and roots.

We are pieced together, beautifully and so easily broken.
Different, but forever interconnected with each other’s femininity.
